Welcome...

Welcome to my project 365.

What is project 365? It is simply where you take a photo a day for 365 days.

Why do project 365? People do it for different reasons but I received a new camera for xmas and in order to get used to using it I decided the best way was to use it often, not just when I schedule a shoot but for everyday things. Project 365 will get me thinking outside the 'box' and make me think more creatively about what I am photographing. If you happen to stop by don't be a blog stalker :) sign up and leave me a message........I hate talking to myself!

Ok well I finished my 365 so now what? For now I'm just going to update a few things that happen so that family members following can still see what we are up to.

CRAZINESS

Day 355 / 365

She's a crazy little thing but I love her to bits.  Always willing to pose for a photo and ever so keen to take her own photos these days.  Check out the different coloured painted nails.  She got nail polish for xmas and every nail was painted a different colour!

CARDS

Day 354 / 365

I personally was very slack with xmas cards this year.  The kids sent out cards to all their friends and classmates but unfortunately I didn't follow suit.  I appreciate people taking the time to write and send cards and even though we sometimes lose touch with people throughout our busy lives xmas allows us sometimes to send a little message to let people know they are in our thoughts so thank you to all those who sent cards our way.

INVENTIONS

Day 353 / 365

I am constantly amazed at what Max can do with his lego.  Since we have banned him from getting any more 'sets' he has made some amazing things with all the lego he has and the great thing is he in making them from scratch so he is having to work out how to do it without a manual etc.
This is a very strategic and fun lego game he has created.  I think he has based it on a lego game that is already on the market but as we aren't sure how that game works I don't know how alike it is.  Basically you get a base plate and put on a series of bricks to make walls kind of like a maze.  The beauty of this is that it can be changed every game so no game is the same.  Next he added some 'treasure' pieces and put them in hidden corners of the board.  The treasure pieces had different advantages.  There were 4 orange cone treasures which gave you the advantage of being able to use 1 to move a wall.  There is 1 green cone which means you can jump over a wall and the red cone gives you the advantage of not having to go back to start if you get caught by the monster.   The monster roams the board and if you throw a black on the dice you can move him 10 paces.  If in that 10 paces he touches a player they have to go back to the start.  The object of the game is to get from the start to finish via the maze however there are 6 sides on the dice.  The black means move the monster, brown = move 1 spot, blue = move 2 spaces, red = 3 spaces, yellow = 4 spaces and the last side had a computer sticker on it which means you can move a wall.  Moving a wall allows you to block in an opponent or unblock yourself.  This is where strategy plays a part.  I think I've remembered everything but basically we made up the rules as we played to start with and kept what worked.  A super fun game that I find personally quite addictive and challenging.  Hats off to the 8 yr old inventor!!

MERRY XMAS

Day 352 / 365

Wishing everyone a very merry xmas today.  We are in effect having 2 xmas days, one today and one on Wednesday when their dad comes home.

I'M CHECKING MY LIST..

Day 351 / 365

Reindeer food out - check, key on the front door - check, carrots for reindeer  - check, santas snack and note out - check, presents ready to go - check, kids asleep...................NOT YET!

I think we're all set to go.....Merry xmas everyone.

ALMOST DONE

Day 350 / 365

Well the advent calendar is almost finished.........just 1 day to go and a ho ho ho.  Preparations are underway and presents are wrapped ...it's nearly xmas!

SPOT WHAT!

Day 349 / 365

The playroom floor reminds me of those spot what books where you have to spot something obscure in a picture. Sometimes finding the right piece of lego is more like a treasure hunt in our house.

FLOATING POM POMS

Day 348 / 365

I made these tissue paper pom poms for our xmas party a few weeks ago.  They are still hanging but I guess after xmas they should come down.  I think I'll try and store them for next year as they make such a colourful decoration.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S

Day 347 / 365

This is Miss A and her best friend from kindy.  Their friendship has grown over this past year and I'm sure they will spend more time together in the years to come.

XMAS CRAFT

Day 346 / 365

Miss A and I made these little xmas tree decorations.  Totally simple to make but look nice on the table.  You just make a cone shape from card, tape it together and then wind tinsel around it in a spiral.  I used double sided sticky tape to hold the tinsel on the card but you could probably just glue it.

STOCKINGS

Day 345 / 365

The stockings are hung and ready for santa to fill.

TAJ MAHAL REINVENTED

Day 344 / 365

Max got it into his head that he was going to attempt to make the Taj Mahal out of his lego.  He spent several days working on it but got stuck with the round piece at the top.  Unfortunately he didn't have the right lego pieces to make this but I think he has done an amazing job of creating his own Taj Mahal.  The people in orange at the front of the building are the builders who are bowing and being applauded by the audience.  There is a little man on the balcony addressing the crowds belonw.

LIGHTS

Day 343 / 365

Not sure if I succeeded in this image but I was trying to get the tree with the lights glowing.  I guess it kind of works.

CANDY CANE

Day 342 / 365

 A little candy cane love....

GRAPES

Day 341 / 365

Yay grape season is finally here.  They don't last long in our household.

NEWBORN YAWNS

Day 340 / 365

I think I've missed a couple of days somewhere.......but I'll catch up at the end.
This little dude came for a photo shoot this week and boy did he make us work for it.  He was so sweet but not obliging much in the sleep department.
I just love how newborn yawns are so expressive.

XMAS PARTY

Day 339 / 365

We have a tradition now of having a party each year with friends.  It's a great time to catch up, have fun and of course santa pays a visit with presents for the kids.  Every year the kids look forward to their xmas party.  We played many games with lots of prizes for everyone to take home.  And of course the evening ended with sparklers and glow sticks after it got dark.

XMAS CUPCAKES

Day 338 / 365

I made these for our xmas party.  As you can tell from previous posts I love the little cupcake toppers you can do.  They add such colour and detail to the simplest of cupcakes.

SUMMER COLOUR

Day 337 / 365

With summer coming on and everything starting to dry out and go brown I have noticed this tree nearby start to change colour.  At first I thought it must have been dying and turning a brown colour but then the colour deepend to this beautiful red.  Curiosity got the better of me and I took a closer look and it is actually covered in these red flowers.  As you stand under the tree the flowers constantly fall to the ground giving  you the feeling it is raining.  I have no idea what type of tree it is but it certainly is gorgeous and reminds me of the colours of Autumn.

GRADUATING

Day 336 / 365

Miss A graduated from Kindy today.  They held a concert for the parents and their beautiful teacher had made them all little graduation hats.  I can't believe how fast this year has gone.  It feels like yesterday that I walked away from her classroom leaving her for the first time.

UNSEASONAL

Day 335 / 365

Today was unseasonably cold.  In fact we had rain and thunderstorms all day and I got soaked several times.  But with a hot summer coming up I guess we could do with the rain.

XMAS

Day 334 / 365

It's beginning to feel a lot like xmas.........more evidence we have the xmas spirit happening.

LAUNDRY!

Day 333 / 365

Mum.........Max is stuck in the ironing basket!  Well what is a mother to do when she hears that cry?  Get her camera of course..and then help him get out!

DECORATIONS

Day 332 / 365

There was a time (pre children)  that Mike and I would struggle to get into the xmas spirit with decorations etc.  In fact one year I was told off by my workmates for not putting up any decorations.  I had in fact taken out the bag of decorations from the cupboard and hung it on the back of a chair then never got around to putting them up, then put them away again in new year.  My friend were horrified at my laziness.  Needless to say now that we have children the spirit of xmas decorating has re-ignited in our house and the tree is up, decorations and all!!

ANGELS

Day 331 / 365

A friend of mine has a set of these for her children and when she showed me I fell in love with the idea and managed to get my hands on a set.  They have fun choosing a card each day and hearing what it says.  They are such a beautiful way to add positivity to children's daily lives.

PROJECTS

Day 330 / 365

I desperately needed some new cushions for our couch after the washing machine chewed up the old ones........ok so perhaps they shouldn't have been put in the machine in the first place!
Instead of buying new ones I decided to make some removable covers for some old cushions we had and after finding a great tutorial online this is what I ended up with.  Ok so perhaps white wasn't the best choice of colour and I will most likely get more suitable material now that I know how easy it is, but not a bad outcome in my opinion.

SUBURBAN SCULPTURE

Day 329 / 365

Our suburb is full of great little sculptures and creations.  I loved how this metal one looked against the bright blue sky.

SUNLIGHT

Day 328 / 365

I love how the sunlight filters through my kitchen window in the early evening while I'm doing the dishes.  Too soon we will be finding it hot and trying to block it out but for now I'm enjoying it.

KEEPING IN TOUCH

Day 327 / 365

Every night their dad is at work he phones us to see how our day has been.  The kids look forward to their special phone calls even though sometimes they can't think of much to say.

CHIVES

Day 326 / 365

The chives in my garden have started to flower?  Not sure if they are supposed to but they do look pretty.
