COSINESS

Day 325 / 365

During this time of year and throughout summer the morning sun shines brightly through the blinds in Miss A's bedroom.  Seeing as it is now getting light at 4.30am I decided to do something about it before she gets into a routine of waking up at some insane hour because it's so light.  I picked up these gorgeous purple curtains and set up the rod and voila......there you have it.  It actually makes her room more cosy and a lot darker.

SUMMER

Ok so I am behind posting my images again!!! but this was from last week when we had several very hot days.  We spent some time at a friends house in their pool. 

CANVAS

I have been wanting to get a large canvas of the kids for such a long time and when scoopon advertised a 100x75cm canvas for $89 I saw that as my opportunity.    I love this impromptu photo of the two of them so that was my choice.  Well this canvas is certainly huge but I love it.

Max is always telling me he is famous because his name appears on a lot of things including pepsi max ...well now he has competition.  Ok so they spelt my name slightly wrong but it's the thought people, the thought!

FRAGILE

I love how bubbles reflect colours and shapes.   Such a beautiful perfect shape but so very very fragile in its existence.

CASTLE CAKE

Initially we were going to make the barbie / princess cake for Miss A's birthday like I made last year but then I came across this tutorial for a princess castle cake which appeared simple enough.

Well I'm no Betty Crocker in the kitchen but after watching the tutorial a few times I felt confident enough to give it a go and here it is.  A little lopsided but a castle all the same and it bought a smile to her face.

CUPCAKE TOPPERS

These little cupcake toppers are a great way to decorate cupcakes for birthdays or any occasion for that matter.  I printed these free ones from http://www.livinglocurto.com/2011/05/girl-birthday-party-ideas/ and attached them to lollipop sticks.

PARTY BAGS

I got these cute little tote bags to give out to the children at Miss A's birthday this weekend.  They contain a little butterfly lollipop, bag of lollies and a chatterbox (handmade) as well as any other goodies they win.  Will make some little name tags to go on them in the next few days.

ASSEMBLING

I bought some new stools for our kitchen breakfast bar area today and they were simple enough to put together that the kids decided they wanted to do it on their own.  No need to worry, I did check them afterwards to make sure the screws were tightened!

FAIRY PARTY

Miss A was dressed up to attend a fairy party this afternoon.  It was very cute seeing all the little girls dressed as fairies.

MULTI STOREY

This is the latest lego creation to grace our toy room.  It took Max weeks to complete and there is so much detail to it that you could look at it several times and still find new things to see.

STARRY BOKEH

Yay it worked.  I have been trying to get the shaped bokeh (background highlights) for a while and a friend of mine loaned me some lens cover star templates she received with the canon photo 5 challenge one year.  These ones will be great for xmas light shots too.  You can find a tutorial for achieving this result on the canon eos website.

Today is her 5th birthday.  She is my gorgeous, funny, sweet girl.  The girl who melts my heart.  I feel so blessed to have her in our lives.

10 DAY OLD CUTENESS

This little cutie came to see me at 10 days old.  He was very good to me although he didn't sleep for as long as hoped.  Such a placid, sweet boy and a lovely easygoing mummy.

It is Miss A's birthday soon and today she was helping me with her party invitations.

SPORTS CARNIVAL

Even though he is quite sporty, Max dislikes the school sport carnival day.  I think the heat, crowds and sitting around has something to do with it but he ran his race and came third place.  Previous years he has come 4th so he was pleased with himself for getting a third place ribbon this year.

BIRDS

I love having birds come into our garden to visit or make their nests.  I love waking up to the sounds of the birds and hearing them throughout the day singing their songs.  This morning as I was hanging out the washing I could hear these two and when I looked they were actually over the fence feasting on fruit on a tree.

This pretty much sums up how I felt today....it was our real first taste of summer and it was hot!

CREEPY CRAWLIES

This delightful creature was hanging just near our front door. ... a little too close to coming inside for my liking but it did look striking against the blue of the sky.

THE NEST

I call this setup the nest because it reminds me of a little birdnest.  This gorgeous little newborn came to me this week for a shoot.  He was very well behaved once he settled into the routine and gave me all the shots I needed.

HALLOWEEN

My little witch.  Miss A was lucky enough to have 2 halloween parties to attend this year.  One was a party with a friend from school and the other was the school halloween disco.

SCIENCE

Day 301 / 365



Max has been doing science experiments at school and had begged me to do the volcano experiment with him at home.  They both had to have a turn and then the next day he was back in the kitchen making his own experiments.  (hence I have no baking soda or vinegar left!!)

I gave them this experiment to try which I had read about on Pinterest.

For those interested, put milk into a shallow dish and add drops of food colouring.  Try to resist the urge to swirl it around! The dip a toothpick into dishwashing soap and then into the milk, it will repel the milk away from it and cause the colours to swirl together creating a great effect.

FAIR FUN

Woohoo I've made it to 300!!  Only 65 to go.  Today we took the kids to a country fair.  It was hot and tiring so we didn't stay very long but they did get to have a game on the sideshows.
