EYES

This little guy belongs to a good friend of mine and Miss A and I looked after him for a while today.  As well as being completely cute  he has the most stunning eyes that reflect all sorts of colours.  I just couldn't resist getting a shot.

Well my faithful followers today I take out the award for the most un-interesting photo.  Yes folks it is an image of my lunch - or what had been my lunch.  By the time I had finished my music classes and done some grocery shopping I was famished so grabbed some subway for lunch.  There was no way I was going to waste 10 minutes photographing the actual lunch when all I wanted to do was eat it so sorry........all you get is the wrapping.

 Miss A chose this book at the library on the weekend and it is the most beautiful story to read.  It is one of those stories about a mothers love and how no matter how trying a child can be or how old a 'child' is they will still be your baby and you will still love them just the same.

TAKING TIME

As most mums know its hard to find time to do something just for yourself but I have realised that it is not selfish to take time for yourself.  It is important that children see you doing things that you enjoy and things that make you a better person.  I try to find time some days to do Pilates.  They are only 10 minute sessions and definately make a difference.

I saw an image of refracted light on a cd with water droplets and had to have a go.  I love how it turned out.

Max has asked me to teach him how to play the keyboard..........its been a long time since my formal music training but I sat down today to do up some exercises for him.  It's amazing how much you can forget.

SIMPLISTIC

There's a little brook that runs at the end of a street near our house and this afternoon I took a walk there to get todays photo.  As much as I love photographing children I also love simple images and this was my aim for today.  At first I couldn't see much for inspiration but as I investigated further there were many many opportunities just waiting.  They were but a simple plant waving in the breeze but on closer inspection there was beauty to be found.  It's very much like life......when we stop and take time to look we will see amazing things that any other time might be overlooked.

TIMELESS FUN

Bubbles have been a part of childrens' lives for ever.  I know I played with them as a child and I'm sure many generations before did too.  This is actually from a bubble machine that I purchased to use with my pre-school music class but naturally my children had to try it out first!

NOT SO SUPER MOON...

Well there has been talk of this amazing super moon happening tonight so I thought I'd get in on the action and make a photo op out of it.  First problem was I didn't have the right lens to get anything spectacular (Mike has the long kit lens at work with him).  So I figured that this moon was going to be huge anyway so I'd make do with my 85mm lens.  How wrong I was.  This moon wasn't any bigger than normal, ok so maybe it was a bit brighter but I was expecting something out of the ordinary.  I packed the kids in the car with binoculars to keep them amused (which worked just for the record.......except when they aimed them at peoples houses and exclaimed loudly how they could see in windows!!) and set off to my favourite spot where I did the sunrise image a while back.  As the sun set the colours in the sky were beautiful and even though my moon image wasn't quite what I was hoping for I'm quite happy with the results.

DINNER

I am not the worlds most creative cook and to be honest I find it a chore that I would rather do without......but we have to eat so I have to cook.   Tonight I made a really nice (by my opinion) ravioli with pumpkin sauce.  It wasn't much of a hit with the kids but I liked it.

This morning Miss A and I went to an opening of the new shops in town.  There were lots of little things to entertain the kids but Miss A had to have her face painted as a fairy.

Todays entry was bought to you by the letter A for Art.  I love this wire line we got from Ikea for hanging up the childrens' artwork.  It goes across one wall in their toyroom and now that Miss A has started kindy there is plenty of artwork to be displayed. 

BEAUTY

This plant is growing over our fence from our neighbours and I just love how the pink of the flowers stands out against the blueness of the sky.  There is beauty in everything we just need to learn to see it.

Ok so I've cheated a bit.  This weeks project 52 was 'hot drink'.  Well technically it isn't a hot drink.  The cup is plastic, the water isn't hot, the sugar is sand and the teaspoon is a stick but to a 4 year old this was a hot cup of tea for mummy and thats good enough for me!

APPRECIATION

A couple of weeks ago there was a car accident outside our home.  A young girl had had a seizure and run into a tree.  As unfortunate as the incident was it was heartfelt to see many neighbours come to offer assistance.  Last night a neighbour dropped by to deliver this gift from the family we had all helped.  They had given her gifts for all the families that assisted that night.

A very thoughtful gesture.

QUIET TIMES

I missed putting this up yesterday time got away!  I packed the kids off to the library with their dad in the morning.  Max had run out of reading books so it was time to re stock.

This morning was a proud mummy moment as Max received a Merit Certificate at his school assembly.  He was very proud of himself although not particularly willing to be photographed without making silly faces!

Today a friend and I took the children to an indoor playcentre.  It was lovely to see the children having fun together as they don't see each other as much now they are both in school.

Who would have thought something so simple would give a parent so much peace!  Both of my children love these fuse beads and they will sit in quiet concentration for ages carefully placing on the beads to make a pattern.

I had the pleasure of photographing my first newborn this morning.  She was soooo good to me I think I could do this every day!  I've only managed to get a couple processed so far.

"The Hotel"

My children are now coming up with things to photograph for the blog and Max has been asking me to take a photo of this hotel before he breaks it up again.  So here it the grand Hotel he created from his lego.

MORNINGS

This morning was a lot cooler than it has been and slightly cloudy.  Just perfect for having breakfast outside in the courtyard and watching the world come to life.

I love his eyes.  I don't very often get to photograph him but he sat still long enough for me to snap off a couple of shots.  Am loving the clarity I get from the 85mm lens.

INNOVATION

I have the opportunity of a newborn shoot next week and really want to have a nappy cover to use however I don't have time to order one from etsy.  I had a pattern which I have previously used but wasn't happy with the results and after wracking my brain I decided to adapt the pattern to work better.  This is the result.  I just need a couple of buttons for the front overlaps.  Here's hoping it fits properly and looks ok!  Otherwise it will be back to the drawing board for round 3.

She loves to do art especially painting.  The messier the better!  Today we were home, hanging out together while big brother was at school so had plenty of time to create and clean up.
